i am, i'm writing my third 25-page English senior essay (the english major is floppy like that), this one on Ulysses, and doing my poetry project for the Writing Concentration. I just got a fellowship that has me writing all year next year!
what did vico do wrong?

vico has been redeemed, now that i've submitted my vico paper. he is just too slippery, too self-contradictory, too ambitious but too confused - to make for a comfortable paper writing experience.

i see. i suppose i too am charmed, in a way, by the way he obliviously stumbles into the spotlight with insights already made by his more famous and more successful progeny.

supposedly, joyce structured finnegan's wake on the "ideal eternal history" of vico's scienza nuova.
